Abstract

The #MeToo movement has brought global attention to issues of sexual harassment and gender inequality, sparking widespread debates about women's rights and safe spaces for victims of crime. In the context of Christian theology, this issue is often faced with the challenge of interpreting teachings that can maintain gender hierarchy. This article aims to examine the ethics of Christian theology in response to the #MeToo movement, with a focus on gender equality and the protection of victims of sexual violence. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach, it is concluded that Christianity needs to reinterpret biblical teachings in the context of gender equality. Which indeed focuses on the theology of feminism and religious perspectives on women and certainly narrates the role of Christian theological ethics in Responding to Sexual Violence. So that Christianity can theologically analyse gender equality in religious teachings in responding to the #metoo movement.  This is very much needed because Christian theology has the capacity to become an agent of change in supporting gender equality and fighting sexual violence, although it requires a more progressive transformation of thought in the interpretation of religious teachings.
